Transfer windows 2026/27: confirmed dates and deadlines
A registration period is the only block of the calendar in which a club can register a new player. This calendar lists the dates that the leagues have published themselves, with the deadline in local time and the time left until it closes.
Winter window: confirmed dates
| League | Country | Opens (UTC) | Closes (local) | Time left |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premier League Announced with the 2026/27 season calendar. | England | 01 Jan 2027 | 1 Feb 2027, 23:00 GMT | — |
| Ligue 1 Confirmed by the Ligue 1 board. | France | 01 Jan 2027 | 1 Feb 2027, 19:59 CET | — |
| Serie A Announced for Serie A, B and C together. | Italy | 02 Jan 2027 | 1 Feb 2027, 20:00 CET | — |
| Primeira Liga Set in Liga Portugal's Comunicado Oficial n.º 1 for 2026/27. | Portugal | 04 Jan 2027 | 1 Feb 2027, 23:59 WET | — |
| La Liga Stated on the LaLiga transfers page. | Spain | 02 Jan 2027 | 2 Feb 2027, 23:59 CET | — |
Times appear twice on purpose: local time is what a club works to, UTC is what this page counts down to. The five leagues above close within a single day of each other.
Reported by media, not confirmed by the league
For these leagues the dates circulate in the football press, but the competition has not published them. They sit apart from the calendar above on purpose.
| League | Country | Opens | Closes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bundesliga Reported by German football media. The DFL has not published the 2027 dates. | Germany | 1 Jan 2027 | 1 Feb 2027, 20:00 CET |
| Süper Lig Reported by Turkish football media. The TFF has not published the 2027 dates. | Turkey | 1 Jan 2027 | 5 Feb 2027 |
Summer 2026: how the last window ran
| League | Country | Opened | Closed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premier League | England | 15 Jun 2026 | 1 Sep 2026, 23:00 BST |
| EFL | England | 15 Jun 2026 | 1 Sep 2026, 23:00 BST |
| Ligue 1 | France | 15 Jun 2026 | 1 Sep 2026, 19:59 CEST |
The English window closed on 1 September at 23:00 local time, the French one at 19:59. That gap is normal: each association sets its own cut-off and does not coordinate it with its neighbours.
What the dates actually control
The FIFA regulations allow each association two registration periods a season, one in the close season and one mid-season, capped at twelve weeks and four weeks respectively. The dates inside those limits are the association's decision.
A window controls registration, not negotiation. A fee, a contract and a medical can be agreed at any point in the year; what cannot happen outside the period is filing the registration, which is why deals collapse in the final hours when paperwork runs late.
- Two registration periods per season, set by each national association
- Close-season period capped at twelve weeks, mid-season at four
- A deal agreed outside a window can still be filed when it opens
- Free agents and emergency goalkeepers are the narrow exceptions
- Loans need an open window as well, because a loan is a registration
