What this deadline means
The window is a registration period, so the date that matters is the moment the filing system closes, not the moment a fee is agreed. A deal announced after the deadline can only be registered when the next window opens.
Liga MX runs its own calendar. Nothing obliges Mexico to align its dates with the other leagues in this reference, and the confirmed calendar proves the point: its deadlines run from 31 January to 9 February, and none of them falls at the same hour.
The mid-season period is capped at four weeks by the FIFA regulations, which is why January business is compressed and why the final 48 hours carry a disproportionate share of the deals.
